Delhi: A massive explosion occurred in an i20 car near Delhi's Red Fort metro station at around 6.52 pm on Monday evening. Ten people died, and more than two dozen were injured in this blast. Immediately after the incident, there was chaos in the entire area. Initial investigation revealed that this was not an ordinary accident but a part of a bigger terrorist conspiracy. According to intelligence agencies, the capital was saved from a major accident due to timely security checks.

Did the blast happen due to fear of being caught?

The main accused, Dr. Umar Mohammad, was nervous after the ongoing action against the Faridabad module. Agencies say Umar was trying to take an incomplete IED device somewhere else or throw it away on the way. During this time the car exploded. The investigation also found that no crater was formed at the site, which proves that the explosive was not fully activated. It is believed that Umar feared that his remaining associates had been caught and now the police had reached close to him.

How was the Delhi blast linked to the Faridabad module?

Investigation revealed that this blast is directly related to the terrorist module of Faridabad. On October 30, Haryana STF had arrested Dr. Muzammil Shakeel, an MBBS student of Al-Falah University. 2,900 kg of explosives, an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and a timer were recovered from him. During interrogation, he revealed the name of his colleague, Dr. Shaheen Shahid, who is the head of Jaish-e-Mohammed's women's wing, 'Jamaat ul-Mominat.' This organization operates from Pakistan under the leadership of Masood Azhar's sister, Saadia Azhar.

Who is the new suspect in Lucknow?

The investigation of the Delhi blast reached Lucknow, where Dr. Shaheen's brother,, Dr. Parvez Ansari, emerged as the main suspect. A team of UP ATS and Jammu and Kashmir Police raided his house on Tuesday, but he was found absconding. The team has seized Alto's car, bike, laptop, and many important documents from his house. Investigation found that Parvez had old contacts with the Faridabad module and was involved in suspicious activities for a long time.

Did the entire network start from Saharanpur?

The roots of this entire network were found in Saharanpur, from where Jammu and Kashmir Police had arrested Dr. Adil a few days ago. Dr. Muzammil Shakeel was caught on the instructions of Adil. Now the agencies are deeply investigating the relationship between Adil, Muzammil, Shaheen, and Parvez. It is suspected that this module is linked to Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH). This was a “white collar network,” in which educated doctors and professionals were being used for recruitment and funding.

How far has the investigation reached now?

The Home Ministry has handed over the investigation of the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). NIA recovered the chassis of the damaged i20 car from the spot and sent it for forensic examination. The agencies are now investigating whether this network was limited to Delhi only or was spread to other parts of the country as well.

Is Delhi out of danger?

At present, high alert is in force in Delhi and surrounding areas. Security has been increased at all metro stations, crowded markets, and bus stands. CCTV footage is being scrutinized, and suspicious call records are being examined. Investigative agencies say that this conspiracy was as deep and organized as it appears, but in time the security system averted a major tragedy.
